1860 Reservoir Fishing Report

After Irene

After the sun started showing up in New Britain, my friend and I decided to try to get a few casts in not knowing what the fishing conditions would be after a tropical storm. We headed to 1860 reservoir to find that this area had been hit harder than we had, and the wind was still whipping across the pond making us a little uneasy about all the swaying and creaking trees. Never the less we fished anyways, grabbing a spot down the trail but before the wooden bridge as that was occupied. Casting into the wind was a pain and after a little time and several setups, neither of us had any luck except for a couple small hits on a wacky rigged plastic worm which failed to hook anything. Shortly after we arrived, the three gents on the bridge left and we headed down to their area. Immediately after arriving at the bridge, we each started to land Black Crappies using Rooster Tails. In the end we landed about ten fish total, and though we never landed a monster we were happy with the results we had. We'll certainly be back to this spot, and hopefully we'll be able to add a few more fish species under our belts.
