Powers is a place that I call the feast or famine. I've caught 4 6lbers here in the last 3 yrs. Its been hard work for everyone. If its not big ones, its nothing.

Tips? Understand the offshore structure and depth changes. This place has potential but requires the research.

Angry and I teamed up for a 3 hour tour on Long Pond. The fishing started strong and stayed consistent throughout the day. Bass (8) and Picks (12) came on small crank (majority), jerkbait, and a couple on the jerkshad. Picked up 8 in one 30 minute stretch. One particular flat near deeper water seemed to be the best although fish came from a number of places around the lake. For a relatively short trip, it was an amazing day.

Another windy Sept afternoon. Went to Gortons for a 3hr late afternoon stint. Due to weeds and wind started with topwater stick bait and buzz bait. After birds nest with the buzzer, I gave that up and watched a very nice one follow my fake Sammie back to the boat. Switched to a wake crankbait. Got one around 1.5ish. As I moved down the lake no takers on swimbait, crank, or toad. Moved to small cove out of wind. Bust out the punching rod and first cast into the pads get a 3.6lber (in the pic). Being that i was tired of the wind and the pads seemed like as good of a place as any, I stuck out the next hour and a half there. Got 3 more ranging from 1- to 2.5+ all on punch bait.

After pulling the all nighter at work, thought about sleep but it wasnt happening. Pick the boat up and was off to the closest launch which happened to be Pillings.

Found out (signs posted) that water had been recently treated to kill weeds (great??). Water was about as stained as I've seen it and low and I couldnt find the boat keys (Thanks Johnny).

So it was trolling motor or bust but Pillings is small so no big deal and without sleep, I figured all I had was about 3 hours in me.

Not to hot, breeze not to bad, water in mid 80's and enough shoreline targets to keep me busy. Found some in the pads and a few on trees. Biggest of the day came in at 4.98 and 3.5.

Time to complete my profile!

I had a few hours on Sat morning to hit the water. Arrive at the pond, weedy like usual for August. The perfect morning turned hot early and without any wind, it made casting a breeze but sweat rolling down your a** crack hot.

Frog bite wasn't happening so I put the trolling motor on high and started searching for them. Quite a few 1lbish type guys until hit a stretch with a point and a deeper water drop off where the bigger guys were at. The biggest was 4.90 and 3.25. Between the two of us, put about 15 into the boat.
