  • Aqualung..thanks for the response..I think we were using 4-7oz jigs..and the eels were weighted with 6-7oz..first time with my friend...but we were hitting bottom and next to the blackhawk and odyssey....loved to go out with you sometime and teach me the ropes..heard your a great fisherman..per carp13
Redneck...thanks i will look out for those spots next time and use heavier weights..we were drifting close to 3mph..lets hook up and hit it together,,,

  • Like 'lung said, you gotta get bottom and be able to hug it without hanging. I usually use 12-16, or 20 if its really ripping. If the current starts lifting your rig during the drift you're missing the fish. I've been out on nights when the drift is so fast it's hard to keep a 20oz down. Out near Fishers at dawn the top water bite is usually pretty good w/ soft plastics. Either at Race Point at the edge of the rip, or on the east side near the green can (Wicopesset), Sugar or Watch Hill reefs.

  • 4 oz is very light for the race. 8oz jigs would be the lightest I would use.

Were you 3 waying those eels?? You need to get them down to the bottom.
