connecticut river Fishing Report

NO SHINERS? WTF!!!

Went to the baitshop friday night to pick up some shiners for my much anticipated saturday morning on the river.Seeing all the pictures of the beautiful pike coming out of there recently has really kicked the cabin fever in high gear.So I walk in with my bait bucket and I noticed a sign hanging below the counter before I even made it all the way there,"Temporarily out of shiners, problem with our supplier, sorry for the inconvenience".Me,not believing my eyes and not being able to grasp the cocept that a baitshop could not possibly have any minnows,I ask the lady anyways.Well she confirmed what the sign said and offered a bunch of lame excuses,SON OF A B*TCH!!!Well, long story short,I went anyways, knowing I'd be wasting my time without livebait this time of year.I sat out there all day without a bite and my ego really took a hit because I can't remember the last time I got skunked! The icing on the cake was watching two guys in a boat fishing across the river from me pull out a beautiful pike as long as my leg about an hour before iI packed it in,One was holding it up at one end of the boat while the other was snapping pictures,YOU MUTHERF**KERS!!THAT WAS MY FISH!

  • Bummer ....I have experienced the same thing....it sucks when you expect to find live bait and the dealer is "out".
